If I were to say to you, early 2000s Phoebe Philo, what would you think of? Chloé? Boho? A leather hobo bag slung across a ruffled blouse? Same. It’s a fashion era that will forever be etched into our brains and our style moodboards, and no high street brand taps into that modern-boho sweet spot quite like Free People. Long before ‘quiet luxury’ became the internet’s favourite word, Free People had already cornered the market on carefree, cool-girl dressing – one that also makes everyday dressing feel like you’re on the way to Worthy Farm (and who doesn’t want to feel like that?)

The latest Free People item to catch my eye is the Me And You Midi Slip dress, and it’s all parts noughties ingenue, part 90s Kate Moss and ever-wearable in 2025 nonetheless. The dress features a classic V-neckline detailed with scalloped eyelet trimmings and, of course, copious amounts of lace. Still, the midi length makes it less like a nightie and infinitely more wearable. So much so, in fact, that Free People describes it as a ‘made-to-be-seen slip.’

The dress is also available in four different colours, all of which are incredibly versatile, even for day-to-day. The fiery red, as Free People calls it, is bold, so pair it with more subtle accessories, like a pair of Havaiana flip flops and a cord necklace. The butter yellow is sweetly understated and also on-trend (it’s the colour of 2025), so style with platform sandals and a basket bag. Ivory leans into a bridal-but-make-it-boho outfit, so throw it on over a bikini and add a stack of chunky bangles. And the black? Elevate it for the evening with a pair of kitten heels and a metallic clutch bag.

While Free People’s Midi Slip dress looks like it should come with a triple-figure price tag, it’s actually under £120, which, if you subscribe to girl maths, is basically free when you consider the cost-per-wear potential. Shop the dress in its array of colours below.
