Sydney Sweeney has answered everyone’s questions about filming sex scenes

This might be a surprising answer…

You’d perhaps think one of the most intimidating things about being an actor would be the thought of filming sex scenes – but it’s something Sydney Sweeney isn’t fazed by. The Euphoria star, 27, says while she can get ‘really bad stage fright’ doing theatre or talk shows, she isn’t at all bothered by filming intimate scenes.

‘I don’t get nervous,’ she told W Magazine. ‘I think that the female body is a very powerful thing. And I’m telling my character’s story, so I owe it to them to tell it well and to do what needs to be done.’ She also added she has ‘gained so much confidence and self-awareness’ since playing troubled teenager Cassie on Euphoria, a role she’s had since 2019.

It’s not the first time Sydney has discussed nudity on screen, as she previously told the Independent she’s spoken to creator Sam Levinson when she didn’t think nudity was needed in Euphoria. ‘There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, “I don’t really think that’s necessary here” and he was like, “OK, we don’t need it,”’ she said, adding she never felt ‘pushed’ to be topless on camera.

Off screen, the actress recently raised eyebrows with her new business venture – turning her bathwater into soap. (Yep, you read that correctly.)

‘When your fans start asking for your bathwater, you can either ignore it, or turn it into a bar of soap,’ Sweeney joked in a press release. And apparently it wasn’t just a gimmick, as she added she was happy the product ‘actually smells incredible and delivers like every other Dr. Squatch product I love’. And the price tag for the soap? A very reasonable $8 (but sadly, if you did want to get your grubby little paws on a bar, it’s already sold out).

And that’s not the only reason Sydney has been in the headlines recently. Glen Powell’s ex Gigi Paris recently gave an interview, commenting on the rumours that Sydney’s friendship with her Anyone But You co-star – and Paris’ ex – Glen Powell contributed to their break-up.

‘I had two options,’ she told Emma Klipstein on the Too Much podcast. ‘I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, “Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she okay with this? What the f***?” Or stand up for myself and say, “No, I’m actually not okay with this, and I’m walking away.” So that’s what I decided to do… I was shattered.’

It seems Gigi’s issue at the time was that she didn’t think Glen was strong enough in his denial that anything was going on between him and Sydney. ‘Where are you when you just need to stand up and say, “No, I would never cheat on my girlfriend. I wouldn’t do that,”’ she added.

Sydney and Glen both did deny the rumours – Glen explained to The New York Times the pair only played up to the media circus to promote the film, saying: ‘That’s people wanting what’s on the screen, off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit – and it worked wonderfully.’

That reasoning seemed to annoy Gigi, as she added relationship rumours were ‘serving them for their PR’. ‘Later on, it turned out that it was all, I don’t know if there was a relationship there or not, but then they came out to say it was all a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship,’ she continued. ‘Like, it was just crazy.’

Earlier this year, the Sydney-Glen rumour mill was back up and running when Sydney attended the wedding of Glen’s sister Leslie. But a source told TMZ that Sydney and Glen were only there ‘as friends’, and explained the actress is ‘very good friends with the Powell family’ and has been ‘close’ with Leslie ‘for a long time’.

Glen’s mum Cyndy even got involved, later clarifying ‘they’re definitely not together’ in an interview with the MailOnline. ‘They’ve been friends for so long,’ she added, calling the dating rumours ‘silly’. ‘They’ve known each other for so long and they’ve both been single and together and with other people.’ ‘We love Sydney,’ she added. ‘We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend. We all were together so much, and we haven’t seen her in a long time. She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.’

It’s believed Glen is single right now, following his split from Gigi. But for anyone wanting to date Glen, bad news: Cyndy says it just isn’t the time for him to settle down. ‘He’s too busy right now,’ she said. ‘But he’s a family man. He wants a family and he wants his happily ever after. It’s just not right now.’

But – even though Sydney clearly has the Powell family seal of approval – maybe it will never be a thing, as Sydney has previously told Cosmopolitian she doesn’t get together with fellow A-listers: ‘I don’t date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it’s easiest.’
