This M&S jacket looks 10x the price – it’ll sell out in minutes
Trust me, this grey checked jacket will be your best sartorial investment this season.

As a commerce writer, I spend an unhealthy amount of time browsing the new-in sections of high street retailers. So, trust me when I say, it takes a lot for a piece to genuinely catch my attention mid-scroll. But when I came across Marks & Spencer’s latest viral winter jacket, I was unexpectedly charmed.
The jacket in question is the Pure Wool Checked Cropped Jacket from the brand’s premium Autograph collection. At first glance, I assumed it was designer; after all, it has the kind of sharp silhouette and luxurious feel you’d expect to see hanging in a far more expensive store like Burberry or Miu Miu.
Made from pure wool, the jacket is cut for a clean, boxy fit that leaves room for layering without restricting your every move. The collared neckline and covered zip keep it streamlined, while the cropped length and patch pockets add just enough structure and keep things looking smart. Honestly, it looks far more expensive than it has any right to.
I’ve already mentally styled the Pure Wool Checked Cropped Jacket about five different ways. With tailored trousers and a roll neck for work. With a mini skirt and loafers when the weather warms up. Or just over a white tee and jeans for everyday errands. It’s the sort of piece that works with your wardrobe rather than demanding a whole new one. And those are always the buys that earn their keep.
If you’re after something timeless that you’ll reach for on repeat, this feels like a very safe bet. Personally, I wouldn’t wait too long – good outerwear never sticks around for long, and M&S pieces have a track record of flying off the shelves far too quickly. Shop the expensive-looking jacket to make winter layering easier for years to come.
