Kanye West has officially left X after posting a series of disturbing and offensive tweets attacking Jewish people. The rapper spent days writing antisemitic messages on the social media platform, including statements such as ‘I love Hitler’ and ‘I’m a Nazi’. Yesterday, his website Yeezy.com featured nothing but a single T-shirt with a swastika on it, which he promoted during his Super Bowl advert on Sunday evening.

In the TV advert, West told viewers ‘I spent all the money for the commercial on these new teeth, so once again I had to shoot it on the iPhone… go to Yeezy.com’ – once on the website, the T-shirt was the only available item sold and also featured the code HH-01 – which is claimed to be a reference to ‘Heil Hitler’.

Elon Musk faced countless calls to ban West from the app, with Friends actor David Schwimmer saying on Instagram ‘We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr Musk. Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That’s twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence. His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews.’

In West’s final post, he thanked Musk for allowing him to ‘vent’ online. ‘I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate [X owner] Elon [Musk] for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip. Love all of you who gave me your energy and attention. To we connect again [sic]. Good afternoon and goodnight.’

West’s wife, Bianca Censori, appeared to make her own statement condemning her husband’s behaviour. On an X account that has a verified blue check mark – indicating the account is confirmed to belong to Censori – posts included the following:

‘Lord, I lift up my husband to You with love & concern. Soften his heart, guide his words, and fill him with wisdom and kindness. Protect him from trouble & lead him toward understanding & respect for all people. Despite our differences, I love him unconditionally. Strengthen our bond & help me be a source of patience & encouragement. I trust in Your grace to work in his heart. God Bless Israel 🇮🇱 and All The Good Jewish Pple. Amen.’

‘Love isn’t about agreeing on everything, it’s about standing beside someone even when the world turns against them,’ another post read. ‘We respect Ye’s views, even if everyone don’t always share them, & we hope one day he sees things differently. Until then, my lov remains unconditional.’

However, a representative for Censori has since come out to say that she has not made any such statements, and the X account isn’t hers. In a quote to The Hollywood Reporter, Censori’s team said the account ‘does not belong to Ye’s wife’ adding ‘We have reached out to X to get the account unverified and/or banned.’

The account has been active since January 2023 and includes countless images of Censori and West, as well as West’s oldest daughter – with Kim Kardashian – North. The bio reads ‘Designer at Yeezy. A perspective from inside the world of Bianca Censori for discussions only. Thoughts inspired by Bianca Censori. Don’t sue me.’

Kardashian, for her part, has not made a public statement about her ex-husband’s behaviour online but is reported to find it ‘disturbing’, according to Page Six. In one of the posts on X last week, West claimed that he has ‘dominion’ over his wife Censori, writing ‘I don’t make her do nothing she doesn’t want to, but she definitely wouldn’t have been able to do it without my approval’ – referencing Censori’s nude appearance on the Grammys red carpet, in which she wore a mesh mini dress that revealed her entire naked body.

Now, as many watch West’s behaviour with fear, campaigners against antisemitism are speaking out against West’s hateful online tirade.

‘On Friday, we called for @ElonMusk  to remove him from  @X  when he began his hate-fuelled spree. This did not happen. Instead, two days later, the @X owner claimed that Ye’s account would be classified as ‘NSFW’ (not safe for work), making it slightly harder, but still easily possible, for users to find his posts,’ the Campaign Against Antisemitism shared on X yesterday. ‘Eventually, having had his fill of Jew-hate, the rapper deactivated his account of his own accord, but not before thanking Mr Musk, stating: “I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent.” If somebody shouts that they’re a Nazi and then thanks you, you’re probably on the wrong side of a delicate divide.

‘If Ye’s latest tirade was not hateful conduct, what exactly is?’

‘@ElonMusk has said that he wants @X to be a global town square, but every town has laws,’ the statement continued. ‘When Mr Musk took over @X, its “Hateful Conduct” policy was updated to explicitly ban harassment which utilises the Holocaust as a weapon, incites against particular religious groups, dehumanises them, or targets them with slurs, yet this policy was not enforced. If Ye’s latest tirade was not hateful conduct, what exactly is? This was not some obscure account operated by a bot, it was one of @X’s most prominent users and a globally recognised celebrity. Right now, it appears that the rules apply to some and not others. Is this what you want? Either @X is without rules, or it enforces the policies that it has chosen consistently.’

Musk has not responded to the statement.
