Hailey Bieber

If there’s one thing the celeb rumour mill loves, it’s an alleged feud – no matter how tired the narrative is. One of the most long-standing rumoured rifts is between Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez – and now, more fuel has been added to the fire after a TikToker alleged that Hailey liked a video mocking Selena and her fiancé Benny Blanco.

Now, Hailey’s reps have addressed these claims and vehemently denied this is the case.  ‘This never happened,’ Bieber’s rep exclusively told Us Weekly in a statement. ‘This entire story has been fabricated by a content creator looking to capitalize off of an old, tired narrative.’

Allow us to explain. It all started when a TikTok user claimed that Hailey reacted to a clip she posted on 14th February, about Selena and Benny’s loved-up photo shoot with Interview magazine, in which she made fun of some of the images featuring the pair. The video racked up over 2.2 million views, but it was a follow-up post that really sent the rumour mill into overdrive.

In the short video, the TikToker appeared to be mocking some of the images. One of the pictures showed Selena’s feet resting on Benny’s cheeks. ‘This is the WORST,’ she captioned the post, and told her followers: ‘Sorry to do this to everyone but I had to look at these photos so you do too.’  She added ‘I genuinely can’t decide which is the worst.’

According to the TikTok user in a follow up video, Hailey liked her video and shared a screenshot as alleged proof. ‘I was being a little shady to Selena Gomez,’ the TikToker said, before adding, ‘That means the Selena Gomez [and] Justin Bieber beef is alive and well, people. I feel like this is definitive proof.’ This was also noticed by fellow TikTok users, who took to the comments to share their thoughts. One user wrote ‘’Hailey Bieber why are you liking this,’ while another penned ‘Hailey Bieber is so obsessed with Selena like girl??? CMON LEAVE HER ALONE.’ A third person pointed out: ‘This only having 5k likes and it STILL landed on Hailey’s fyp.. oh she’s obsessed.’

The rumours about a feud between Hailey and Selena have a long history and tend to resurface every now and again thanks to the fact that their respective relationships with Justin Bieber. Justin and Hailey married in 2018, two months after he split with Selena. What followed was Selena’s fan base incessantly trolling Hailey on social media, to the point where she begged them to stop.  ‘Leave me alone, please,’ she asked on TikTok in 2022. ‘I beg of you, truly. That’s my only request. Leave me alone. Be miserable somewhere else. Please.’

Both Selena and Hailey have condemned allegations of drama between them. ‘I do not stand for women tearing women down,’ Selena told her followers on a live stream in 2019. ‘If you’re my fans don’t be rude to anybody…For me, know that’s not my heart,’ she said.

And in 2022, the pair shared a sweet picture of them together at the 2022 Academy Music Gala. However, it took just a year for speculation to start back up again, when Hailey and Kylie Jenner were accused of mocking Selena’s eyebrows.

‘Both Selena and Hailey have condemned allegations of drama between them’

Truly, the internet loves nothing more than finding any excuse to pit women against each other.

Selena, for her part, appeared to brush off the latest drama by sharing an Instagram video posted by a fan of her and Benny out for a drive in a pink convertible over the weekend. Dating since 2023, she also shared a romantic birthday post for Benny, saying, ‘I’m not sure what I did to deserve you but d**n am I glad you were born.. happy birthday baby,’ Selina wrote. Benny responded in the comments section, and wrote ‘’i love u wifey.’

After dating for over a year, Selena and Benny announced their engagement in a post on Instagram in December 2024. The post showed Selena wearing a huge diamond ring, and under it Benny wrote in an adorable comment ‘hey wait….that’s my wife.’

Meanwhile, Hailey over the weekend shared a picture on Instagram of her son Jack, who she welcomed with Justin in 2024, enjoying an outing with her on a sunny day. Sharing the post on Sunday, Hailey called motherhood the ‘wildest, coolest thing I’ve ever done,’ before wishing her followers a happy International Women’s Day. Truly, these women are just living their most peaceful lives and somehow internet trolls find a way to create drama between them.

Of course, some fans did rush to Hailey’s defence, suggesting that screenshots can be easily faked. They pointed out that Hailey liked Selena’s engagement post from December, a further hint that there is actually no bad blood between her and Justin or Hailey. However, those in the other camp aren’t convinced. One user wrote on X ‘Even if she didn’t do it, the drama never seems to end.’

Ultimately, it’s the the damaging catfish narrative that needs to end. Pitting two women against each other simply because they dated the same person is a frustratingly outdated narrative.

This was a sentiment expressed by Hailey back in 2023, where she spoke on the The Circuit With Emily Chang. ‘I don’t think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez,’ she said. ‘This is not about this pitting between two women and division between two women. It’s about the vile, disgusting hatred that can come from completely made up and twisted and perpetuated narratives. That can be really dangerous.’

She continued by explaining that she is ready for the discourse to stop. ‘I think that it’s an opportunity to really stand for bringing people together and not being ok with the kind of division that it caused because I’m not ok with the kind of division that it caused,’ she said. ‘I don’t like this whole idea of team this person and team this person—I’m just not about that. I want to be able to bring people together.’

Perhaps it’s time to put this alleged feud to bed once and for all.
