Hot new relationship alert: things seem to be getting serious between Reese Witherspoon and her boyfriend, Oliver Haarmann. Reese has been seeing Oliver for at least a year, and while reports at first said the pair were casually dating, it’s believed things are now looking so good they’re planning to live together in New York City.

Page Six recently reported that Reese and Oliver had been spotted viewing a three-bedroom, 4.5-bath apartment – with a very cool $13million price tag. ‘They are looking in the area because [one of her kids, Deacon] is attending New York University and Reese wants to be close,’ the source said. ‘They’ve toured the apartment twice already and were very sweet and affectionate at both tours.’ Oliver lives in NYC, while it would be a bit of a change for Reese, as she spends her time between homes in Nashville and Los Angeles, where her media company Hello Sunshine is based.

And apparently the relationship has helped Reese with her work-life balance, as a source who has worked with the actress for many years tells Grazia: ‘Reese is building a wall of privacy around this relationship where she can drop her media mogul armour and relate to Oliver one-on-one, and that’s done wonders for her mood and her mental health during a very busy year for her company.’

Apparently, her friends are joking the relationship is ‘like she’s having an affair’ – but our source says Reese is ‘very happy and highly optimistic this has potential to last long term’. So, here’s what we know so far…

How long have Reese Witherspoon and Oliver Haarmann been together?

Reese has been with Oliver Haarmann since at least July 2024, just over a year following her divorce from Jim Toth. It was first reported the pair were an item after the couple took a helicopter ride into New York City, the next day enjoying a fancy meal at L’Artusi restaurant in the West Village.

A source tells Grazia the pair have since been spending lots of time together, frequently booking hotel mini-breaks. ‘She’s actually found all the sneaking around pretty exciting and romantic, especially as they’re spending a lot of their dates in five-star luxury and she’s also getting to travel to new places she’s never experiences before,’ the source adds.

How did Reese Witherspoon and Oliver Haarmann meet?

Like good old-fashioned dating before the apps, apparently Reese and Oliver were introduced by mutual friends in New York City.

Initially, it was reported that the pair were friends, taking their relationship slow – though, given the reports of them viewing an apartment together, that seems to have changed.

‘Reese is doing great and enjoys dating,’ a source told People early into their relationship. ‘She’s having fun with Oliver. She often flies between Nashville and NYC to see him.’

So, who is Oliver Haarmann?

According to our source, ‘Oliver is a super low-key type of guy, which suits Reese down to the ground’. And they add: ‘She’s more than happy that he’s an unassuming, modest type of character even though he’s vastly successful and has a ton of charisma that drew her to him in the first place.’

It makes sense that he’s less bothered about media attention, as he’s a financier. He started his career in London at global investment firm KKR, but he started his own private equity firm, Searchlight Capital Partners, in 2010, which he is still a partner of.

Like Reese, Oliver has been married before, and he shares two children with ex-wife Mala Gaonkar. Reese has been married twice. She tied the knot with Ryan Phillippe in 1999, before divorcing in 2006; they share two children, Ava, 25, and Deacon, 21. Reese married her second husband, Jim Toth, in 2011, but they later divorced in 2023, and they share 12-year-old son, Tennessee.

Our source adds that the relationship isn’t at the stage where the families are mingling just yet. ‘It’s a little tricky because her son Tennessee still lives at home and still spends a ton of time with Reese’s ex-husband Jim,’ the source says. ‘She’s not letting this relationship overlap with her home life yet much at all, but she and Oliver are definitely enjoying as much alone time as they can given their busy schedules.’

‘In time, she’ll certainly want Oliver to be more involved with her family but for now they’re just going with the flow and enjoying their one-on-one time together,’ they add.

Oliver is worth an eye-watering estimated $440 million, with $10 billion assets under management. And Reese is also worth a hell of a lot of cash. Forbes named Reese one of the world’s highest earning actresses in 2021, and in 2023, she was estimated to also have a net worth of $440 million.
